WHAT TO WEAR TO AN INTERVIEW TIPS

Dress to impress (yes, that means formal business attire ONLY)

There is a growing trend for business casual attire in the workplace of the 21st century. DO NOT follow this trend at a job interview!

You MUST, and I mean MUST dress in formal business attire, and nothing less. Why take a chance? What you wear to a job interview defines how serious you are about getting the position. Worse case scenario? I am the interviewer, and I speak with two equally good candidates for a job position. One is dressed in formal attire, one in business casual. The formally dressed candidate get's the job - everything else being equal!

WHY RISK IT?

A specific guide on what to wear to a job interview

MEN

Men should wear dark blue or gray suits. Be very conservative with the style of suit - no frills, keep it simple.

White, cream, and light blue shirts are acceptable - as long as we have good color coordination with the rest of the suit! No patterns on the shirt - stick with solid colored shirts.

As a guy, when you figure out what to wear to a job interview, do not forget the TIE! Obviously, they should match with the suit. Use a single or double windsor tie. The length of the tie should lye a hair above the belt line.

Black/dark brown dress shoes should be worn along with dress socks that are dark and color (AND match the shoes - no white tube socks please!)

WOMEN

Believe it or not, when women try to determine what to wear to a job interview, they should follow almost the SAME advice as the men!

Again, black/dark blue/dark grey suits should be worn. Good taste is important - wear a formal woman's business suit!

White and ivory blouses are the best choices, and must also be worn with taste.

Both skirts and pantsuits are acceptable. Skirt lengths should reach the knees. Stay away from those skimpy mini-skirts, they do not give off an impression of professionalism! Black dress shoes are the best, along with tan, dark gray, or skin colored stockings that match well with your suit.

Try and make good use of these guidlines on what to wear to a job interview! REMEMBER to always go into a job interview wearing clothing that gives off an air of confidence and professionalism. Get the EDGE!
